Banning, CA: Bobcats In My Back Yard

I’ve heard there’s lots of wildlife here in Sun Lakes. We back up onto hillsides covered in dense chaparral and there’s a field to the east of us so I shouldn’t be surprised. Bobcat and coyote sightings are almost a daily occurrence.

I captured a few frames of this bobcat kitten standing on a fencepost in my backyard this afternoon. Shortly after its mother returned to the den, with a rodent in her teeth, striding confidently across the top of my fence. It appears their den is in a large bush in the yard behind mine.

I think keeping my cat indoors will continue to be a good idea.
